VME students joining the exclusive internship at HEIG-VD, Switzerland, Academic Year 2018
It is our pleasure to officially announce that we have successfully selected two students to be the School’s representatives for Academic Year 2018’s research experience HEIG-VD during February – June 2019, Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. Namely, two VME students who have been selected as School’s representatives are Mr. Sado Park (Korean student majoring in mechatronics engineering) and Mr. Santi Liwsakphaiboon (Thai student majoring in computer engineering). We are pleased to accept international students as per approval by HEIG-VD starting from this academic year.
Prior to the departure of Mr. Sado and Mr. Santi on 16 February 2019, they were escorted to meet for Rector Magnificus, Rev.Bro.Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, on 8 February 2019 for encouragement and words of advice.

Regarding the projects of these two students, Mr. Santi is working on the project entitled “Deep Learning for object recognition in videos” under supervision of Professor A. Perez-Uribe. He has already started to integrate camera with PoseNet to make real-time pose estimation and to understand the concept of Neural Network. He is also studying on how to use PoseNet to perform skeleton detection and obtain skeleton values to understand pose patterns. Interestingly, PoseNet works well with only one person centered in an input image or video and this can be considered as a limitation. Namely, if there are multiple persons in an image, the keypoints from both persons will likely to be estimated as part of the same pose. The solution for this is to apply multi-pose estimation algorithm instead.
